A free public wireless network, “Rivertown Free Wi-Fi,” was launched Tuesday by the city of Antioch.

The service, which extends across several city blocks, is intended to support residents, visitors, and small businesses and economic development in the downtown area, the city said in a news release.

“This new Public Wi-Fi program is an important step forward in ensuring that all members of our community have access to the tools they need to succeed in today’s digital world,” said Brad Helfenberger, Antioch’s information systems director.

Users can connect by selecting the RivertownFreeWiFi network on their devices.
