Construction has officially begun on a long-awaited bike park at Centennial Park, the City of Vacaville announced.
Located on the park’s northeast corner near Allison Parkway, the project is part of the Centennial Park Master Plan approved in 2023 and is being delivered through a public-private partnership with Landify-ECT Corporation.
Without traditional funding, the city turned to Landify’s innovative model, which uses clean construction-excavated soil as structural fill, diverting it from disposal and reducing environmental impact at no cost to the city, officials noted.
The first phase of the project, now underway, involves building an earthen mound between 50 and 80 feet tall using approximately 900,000 cubic yards of clean fill soil. All imported materials are tested at their source for environmental safety.
Deliveries are permitted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to reduce traffic disruptions, officials said.
Trucks will follow a city-approved haul route that avoids residential areas, with an upgraded site access point designed for heavy vehicles and erosion control.
Although the site signage references a 2033 completion date, officials are optimistic the timeline could accelerate depending on weather and soil availability.
