Visitors to the Cesar Chavez Central Library in Stockton are set to encounter new hours beginning Monday.

Starting next week, the library located at 605 North El Dorado Street will open an hour earlier and close earlier to meet the patterns of library users, city officials said.

Hours will now range from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

“Each morning when we arrive, we find that community members have been waiting, and the last two hours of the day are very slow,” community services director Kris Farro said in a press release. “It only makes sense to shift our resources and availability to meet the needs of the community.”

Hours for other library branches in the area will remain the same. Micro-libraries located at community centers will continue to provide the same resources and activities with access to books, books on order from other branches, and computer use.

More information about the library and hours can be found at https://www.ssjcpl.org.
