How to Register or Check Your Registration

Register online

To receive a paper registration application by mail, contact the voter registration office at Rov-voterreg@sonoma-county.org or call the secretary of state’s toll-free voter hotline at 800-345-VOTE (8683).

To register in person, go to the registrar’s office at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa.

Instructions for Mail-In Ballots

Vote by mail ballots will be issued to all California voters in 2020, at least 29 days before the Nov. 3 election, with no postage due on the return envelope. For more info, go to the website linked below.

Instructions and Locations for Drop-Off Ballots

There will be 20 drive-through ballot drop boxes located in Sonoma County that are open 29 days before the election (and close at 8 p.m. election night), including ones at the Sonoma County registrar’s office, Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building and Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building. How to Find Your Polling Place

To find your polling place, check the back cover of your sample ballot and voter information guide, check with the state of California, check the Sonoma County Registrar of Voter’s website, or call the registrar’s office at 707-565-6800.


Where to Volunteer

Sonoma has staffed all polling locations, but those wanting to be added to the list of back up poll workers, should email ROV-Polls@sonoma-county.org. Please note backups may be called as late as election day morning and should be available to fill in at the last minute, if necessary.
