The Bryant Street Community Center celebrated its grand opening Wednesday in downtown Palo Alto with the creation of a new space for La Comida’s Senior Nutrition Program and a Teen Center.
City leaders and community members held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location on 429 Bryant St. Residents were invioted to join in for facility tours and activity demonstrations.
The newly renovated center occupies a former private gym that had been leased by the city. Palo Alto officials said the project was designed to expand opportunities for recreation, community gathering and social connection.
La Comida’s Senior Nutrition Program, which has served seniors for more than 50 years, will have a permanent home at the center for events. With the Bryant Street Community Center’s new dining room, the program will continue providing its weekday meal service from Monday through Friday at 11:45 a.m.
