San Francisco District 2 Supervisor Stephen Sherill is expected to keep his seat on the Board of Supervisors after early voting results showed him taking a significant lead against his opponent.
Sherill, who was appointed to the board by former Mayor London Breed in 2024, has received about 70% of the vote after a few rounds of ranked-choice voting, according to early election results.
San Francisco uses a ranked choice voting system to decide the winner. Of the ballots counted so far, a couple rounds of eliminating candidates and redistributing their votes to the remaining candidates showed Sherill receiving many first-choice votes and some transferred votes.
His main challenger, Lori Brooke, received around 30% of the vote in ranked-choice voting. Brooke is the president of the Cow Hollow Association, a neighborhood group in the city’s Cow Hollow area.
“I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made over the last year to keep San Francisco moving in the right direction,” Sherill said in a statement. “Tonight, District 2 voters made clear they want that work to continue.”
