A proposal to extend San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park Concerts series through 2035 moved forward last week after approval by the city’s Recreation and Park Commission.
The agreement would allow concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment to continue hosting large live music events on the Polo Field in Golden Gate Park, along with three free concerts annually at locations across the city, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department said Thursday.
City officials said the concert series has drawn about 55,000 attendees per day since launching in 2024 and generated nearly $2.9 million in permit fees over two years.
Under the proposal, the city would receive additional annual revenue for parks and services, funding for Richmond and Sunset district neighborhood projects, reimbursement for city operational costs, and free Muni rides for ticketholders, city officials said.
The concerts are held separately from the annual Outside Lands Music Festival but use much of the same infrastructure already installed at the park, reducing additional setup and neighborhood disruption, according to city officials.
The proposal next heads to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for consideration.
