Vacaville has picked a new city attorney, city officials said.
Andria Borba has worked for the city since 2016 and has served as assistant city attorney since 2019. She brings nearly 25 years of public and private legal experience, including nine years with Vacaville. She is expected to begin her new role on Dec. 20.
“Her commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and public trust has earned her the confidence of the Council and respect of city staff,” Mayor John Carli said in a statement Wednesday last week. “She has demonstrated exceptional legal expertise, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of municipal operations.”
Before joining Vacaville, Borba worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and in private practice representing public agencies across the state.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the City of Vacaville in this expanded role,” Borba said. “It is a privilege to support the City Council, executive leadership, and staff in achieving Vacaville’s vision for the future through proactive, ethical, and transparent legal counsel.”
Borba earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Gonzaga University. She is an active member of the League of California Cities, serving on its Police Practices Ad Hoc Committee and Emergency Response Committee.
Borba’s employment contract went before the City Council for approval earlier this week, city officials said.
