Tentative labor agreements with unions representing Novato’s police officers will increase base salaries 11% over three years, after a three-day strike by other city employees earlier this month.

The proposals are retroactive to July 1 and run through June 30, 2028. The terms are the same as those offered to other employee groups, the city said Friday in a press release.

Additional “equity adjustments” will be included in the first year “to move positions closer to market median,” the city said.

Police officers and corporals, represented by the Novato Police Officers Association, will see increases of up to 3.26%, while sergeants, lieutenants and captains, represented by the Novato Police Managers Association, will receive adjustments of up to 1.7%.

The Novato City Council will consider the agreements at its regular meeting on Tuesday.

Most city workers walked out for three days beginning Aug. 5. Union leaders hailed it as a success in the ongoing contract negotiations with the city.

Talks are continuing with Service Employees International Union Local 1021, which represents maintenance workers, building inspectors, parks and recreation coordinators, city planners and office assistants, the city said.
