Richmond police arrested a driver who allegedly hit a pedestrian and then fled the scene.
Police responded at 4:35 a.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on Valley View Road at Morningside Drive.
Arriving officers found a pedestrian with “significant” injuries after the driver of the vehicle had fled.
The victim was transported to a trauma center for treatment. Police said the victim is expected to survive.
Traffic investigators found video footage of a possible suspect vehicle but couldn’t read the license plate. Officers then went through information from a nearby Flock license plate reader camera and discovered more information on the vehicle.
Officers arrested the driver Thursday evening. The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, allegedly admitted to being involved in the collision, police said.
