A track shutdown that had been planned this weekend between BART’s Walnut Creek and Concord stations has been postponed, according to transit officials.
BART will instead offer regular weekend service on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, BART will provide Saturday service, which means BART will open at 6 a.m. and close at midnight, and there will be less frequency on the Yellow Line.
BART had scheduled the project to replace decades-old track components between the Walnut Creek and Concord stations to ensure reliable service. There was no immediate word of when the work would be rescheduled.
The planned upgrades are part of BART’s overall effort to improve safety and reliability of the 131-mile, 50-station system. There are now more rebuilding projects happening across BART than at any point in its more than 50-year history.
