Concord weighs $1M to guard former naval weapons station ahead of redevelopment

The Concord City Council on Tuesday is being asked to sign off on a new million-dollar contract to provide security at the shuttered naval weapons station that for decades has been slated for redevelopment.

The council will consider the three-year contract with Guardian Security Agency to provide security guard services at the former Concord Naval Weapons Station, which originally opened as a munitions storage facility in 1944, was closed in 1999, and was officially marked for redevelopment by the city of Concord in 2006.
