Monterey voters will decide in November whether to extend the city’s existing Measure S sales tax for another eight years to continue paying for street, sidewalk and storm drain repairs.
The Monterey City Council unanimously voted July 21 to place the measure on the November ballot. If approved by two-thirds of voters, the extension would continue the current one-cent sales tax rather than create a new one, city officials said in a statement Wednesday.
