BART riders can access free Wi-Fi at four more stations in San Francisco ahead of FIFA World Cup events, the transit agency announced Thursday.

The four stations are 16th Street/Mission, 24th Street/Mission, Glen Park and Balboa Park. BART is expecting increased ridership due to World Cup matches and related events in the Bay Area and emphasized the importance of providing Wi-Fi to international visitors without a U.S. roaming plan.

The most recent Wi-Fi expansion is part of a larger effort in partnership with Boldyn Networks to deploy connectivity to all remaining stations by early 2028, according to BART. In February, Wi-Fi came to the first five stations: San Francisco International Airport, West Oakland, Embarcadero, Civic Center and Powell Street. June’s expansion effort brings the total number of BART stations with free Wi-Fi to nine.

BART riders can access 20-minute sessions on the network named “BART Wi-Fi” with no password or email required, a news from the transit agency release said. All users will be required to confirm they are still actively using the Wi-Fi after the 20 minutes is up. Additionally, devices will present an option to connect automatically, which will allow the device to remember the network.

“Providing high-quality Wi-Fi is part of our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our riders and enhancing the customer experience through reliable connectivity, BART’s Assistant General Manager of Technology Ravi Misra said in the release. “Boldyn partnered with us to deliver this second phase of upgrades as the region prepares to host the FIFA World Cup, with additional improvements coming in the months and years ahead.”
