San Mateo County District 3 Supervisor Ray Mueller is on track to secure his reelection after taking a significant early lead in the race to keep his seat after unofficial voting results were released after polls closed Tuesday night.
As of 9 p.m., Mueller received 86% of the vote. His challenger, former Half Moon Bay Mayor Joaquin Jimenez, had 14%.
“I’m blown away by the margin,” Mueller said in an interview. “I’m just so honored to have the opportunity to get to keep working with my neighbors to help people in our county.”
Results so far include some ballots cast at vote centers as well as ballots that were received in the mail, at voting centers, and in ballot drop boxes on or before Friday.
“I just can’t wait to get back to work,” Mueller said.
The next round of results will be released at 10 p.m.
