Early voting results posted from Tuesday’s election suggest that incumbents Doria Robinson and Soheila Bana are leading in Richmond’s District 3 and 4 City Council races.
In District 3, which covers neighborhoods like Richmore Village, Coronado, and Pullman, Robinson is up against Brandon Evans, a lifelong Richmond resident trained in urban studies and public leadership.
According to the early returns, Robinson has received 68.96% of the votes to Evans’ 31.04%.
Bana is contending with pharmacy technician Keycha Gallon and founder of LGBTQ+ organization Richmond Rainbow Pride Jamin Pursell or the District 4 seat, which oversees eastern neighborhoods like May Valley, Greenridge Heights, and Greenbriar.
Early returns show that Bana received 67.16% of the vote, followed by Pursell at 26.08% and Gallon at 6.76%.
In both races, candidates need to secure a majority of the vote to be elected after Tuesday’s election. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote, the two leading vote-getters will continue campaigning into the November runoff election, where voters will choose between them.
