Caltrans has rescheduled overnight construction work on U.S. 101 in San Francisco from May 19-22 as part of the ongoing Fab 4 Rehabilitation Project, transport officials announced.Â
The work, originally planned for May 12-15, will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Bacon Street and Cesar Chavez Street along the Bayshore Freeway, also known as the Hospital Curve corridor.
According to Caltrans, crews will remove and replace sections of the freeway’s median barrier, requiring closures of the far-left northbound and southbound lanes on U.S. 101.
Transport officials warned residents and motorists near the U.S. 101 and Interstate 280 split to expect significant overnight noise from concrete-cutting operations.
The rehabilitation project stretches from Candlestick Point State Recreation Area to 16th Avenue and is intended to improve freeway safety, ride quality, and the long-term condition of the corridor, Caltrans said.
Transportation officials urged drivers to use caution in construction zones and said all work is weather dependent.
