A new direct Alaska Airlines route between Sonoma County and the city of Ontario, in San Bernardino County, launched on Wednesday.

Alaska Airlines will fly a 76-seat Embraer 175 jet on daily roundtrip flights between Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport and Ontario International Airport, which is about 38 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, according to a statement from the county.

Charles M. Schulz’s airport manager Jon Stout said the route will give travelers more options and flexibility.

“It’s great to welcome the return of service to Ontario,” Stout said in a statement. “This route is a strong example of our continued partnership with Alaska Airlines and our shared commitment to providing Sonoma County residents with convenient, high-quality air service to key destinations.”

The route becomes the sixth operating between Santa Rosa and Southern California ahead of an expansion that will see 13 different destinations in the western United States available from Sonoma County by fall 2027, according to the county.
