Construction on a $1.5 million pavement rehabilitation project along Sonoma Avenue is set to begin March 9 and continue for about three months, weather permitting, city officials announced.
The project will span from Farmers Lane to Hahman Drive and will be completed by Ghilotti Bros. Inc., according to the City of Santa Rosa.
Work includes pavement rehabilitation, new sidewalk construction, upgraded pedestrian ramps to meet ADA standards, enhanced roadway striping, bus stop improvements and replacement of water services within the project area.
Crews will also implement a road diet, reducing the street to one vehicle lane in each direction and adding a dedicated bus and bike lane along the curb, city officials said.
Westbound traffic approaching Farmers Lane will widen to three lanes to accommodate left-turn, through and right-turn movements.
Traffic control will vary during construction and may include partial or full lane closures.
Santa Rosa CityBus service will continue, though the Montgomery Village Transit Hub will be temporarily relocated to Montgomery Drive, a press release issued Thursday noted.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible and follow posted traffic signs and flagger instructions.
