San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White was shot and injured early Monday in the city’s Mission District.

According to police, just after 4 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 1700 block of Mission Street on a report of a shooting. Once there, police found White suffering from a gunshot wound.

The department did not identify White, but San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie spoke of the shooting on social media.

“Any violent incident in our city is unacceptable, and I’m hoping Keion recovers quickly,” the mayor wrote on X.

White was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Investigators believe an argument occurred between two groups inside the business and White was injured when shots were fired by a suspect who remains at large.

White was traded to the 49ers from the Patriots in October.
