The city of Vallejo has opened a warming center that will operate through March to provide overnight shelter during the winter season.
Services at the warming center, located in the Vallejo Navigation Center at 1937 Broadway, include evening meals, and access to a community room, bathrooms and shower facilities, according to a release from the city.
The center will provide 20 mat spaces plus any additional unoccupied shelter beds. Well-behaved pets are allowed, as well as overnight storage of personal belongings. The Warming Center is open to adults ages 18 or older.
Check-in is from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with check-out by 8 a.m.
On Tuesday, the Vallejo City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the operator agreement with Five Keys Schools and Programs, expanding its scope of work to include Warming Center operations. Funding is provided through Cycle 8 Participatory Budgeting funds from the voter-approved Basic Needs for Warming and Cooling Centers project.
The warming center will operate for up to 75 consecutive days, through March 2026.
