After a series of powerful winter storms, rainfall totals over the Christmas week surpassed the amount recorded during the same period last year.
The National Weather Service recorded several inches of rainfall across the Bay Area over the past week which prompted the agency to issue flood advisories across the region.
Parts of the North Bay saw the highest totals, with places like Guerneville in Sonoma County receiving over 21 inches of rain and the southern part of Marin County receiving over 11 inches.
The East Bay, in the cities of Oakland and San Leandro, saw more than 4 inches on average, while places like San Francisco and the peninsula received 3.8 inches on average.
The total amount of precipitation recorded between Dec. 21 and Dec. 28 this year is higher than 2024 during the period.
Last year, most cities recorded an average of 2 inches of rain during Christmas week, with a few places reaching 4 inches.
