The Winter Wonderland Ice Skating rink at the Thrive City center in San Francisco opened Saturday after being delayed due to the winter storms.

Ice skating is free for all who visit the rink next to the Chase Center, but sessions will be limited to 20-30 minutes on a first-come, first-served basis and suggested donation of $5 that will go to the Golden State Community Foundation.

The rink will run until New Year’s Eve where most days, weather permitting, it will open at noon and close at 7 p.m.

Daphne Zhu, spokesperson for the Golden State Warriors, said capacity would be kept at 50 people and they will closely monitor the weather in case they need to close due to rain.

“Thrive City hosts year-round free events for the community, and including a free ice skating rink was a natural fit with the other holiday events we host in our Winter Wonderland event schedule,” said Zhu.

Proceeds will go to the nonprofit for programs that support education and youth development.
