For people looking for a unique holiday, the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens will be open on Christmas Day, even if it rains, the organization said. Some animals even prefer to be out in a downpour.

Not only is the zoo open on the holiday, it is also offering buy-one-get-one-free admissions. The promotion runs through Dec. 31, another day they will be open, along with New Year’s Day.

“A trip to the Zoo during the holidays is a tradition for many families,” said Cassandra Costello, interim co-CEO. “We’re here every day caring for our animals, and animal caretakers working Christmas Day, for example, will present holiday-themed treats and enrichment for them to make the day extra special.”

SF Zoo winter hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, visit sfzoo.org.
