A city-owned parking lot in Mountain View will close in January so that construction can begin on a new affordable housing project, the city said this week.

The Lot 12 parking lot is located across from City Hall and the Mountain View Public Library by Bryant and Mercy streets.

The southbound lane of Bryant Street will be closed during construction as well, which is expected to take up to two years, according to the city.
