The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning for the San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay and nearby bodies of water, as wind gusts were forecast to reach up to 35 knots, or about 40 mph.

A flood warning was also issued for areas around the Russian River near Hopland, an unincorporated area of Mendocino County.

The river’s flood stage height at that location is 15 feet and was forecast to reach 16.1 feet Sunday evening, which cause flooding to cropland and state Highway 175’s approach to the Russian River Bridge.

The river’s height will continue to rise and fall over the next several days, with a high of 16.5 feet forecast on Wednesday morning.

A separate flood watch issued Saturday remains in effect for much of the North Bay through 4 p.m. Monday as up to 6 inches of rain is forecast to fall through that time in coastal and interior mountains. About 2-3 inches are forecast in lower elevations, but the runoff from higher elevations could cause streams to overflow, the advisory said.

The flood watch is active through Friday in the San Joaquin Valley.

The gale warning extended to Suisun Bay and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. Choppy conditions on the bays are also forecast, which could impair visibility and cause vessels to capsize, according to the National Weather Service.

The gale warning was issued through 9 p.m. Sunday and boaters were advised to stay in ports or seek safe harbor.Â
