THE WINTER HOLIDAY CELEBRATION Path of Lights returned to Point Reyes Station as downtown shops kept their doors open for the 53rd annual holiday craft fair and artisan market this past weekend.

Luminaria lit up the downtown area along Shoreline Highway, creating a bright path from Gallery Route One down to the Dance Palace where traditional eggnog and pozole (a Mexican stew) were available for purchase. Santa Claus joined West Marin School students who led the crowd in song with classic Christmas carols after the lighting of the old Oak Tree behind the Dance Palace.

The craft fair and artisan market featured dozens of vendors, both returning and new, all selling holiday gifts in the Dance Palace Main Hall and Church Space. Local foods, natural wines, craft chocolate, jewelry, art and more were on display.

A table overflowing with homemade crocheted toys stood in the middle of the Church Space. Teresa Gutierrez-Lopez handcrafted them as a labor of love, spending her free time practicing a craft that she first learned at eight years old.

“It takes hours, but I never really keep track because it takes at least a week for each one,” Guitierrez-Lopez said. “They let me know about the fair ahead of time, so I started making these in May. This is my first year coming here as a seller.”
