Berkeley police are launching a holiday toy drive with an event Tuesday at a Target store in the city.

The Berkeley Police Department is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children between 4 and 16 years old as part of a toy drive that will run through Dec. 18.

The kickoff event will take place from 4-8 p.m. at the Target store at 1414 University Ave.

“Every gift will go to kids in our local community,” Berkeley police said in a statement. “Let’s make their holidays a little brighter.”

Other toy dropoff events will take place Thursday at police headquarters at 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Dec. 9 at 1795 Fourth St., Dec. 11 at 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Dec. 16 at College Avenue and Russell Street, and Dec. 18 at 2100 Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
