Patrick Heisinger, the assistant city manager of Redwood City, has been selected to serve as the next city manager pending City Council approval of an employment agreement.
Heisinger would succeed Melissa Stevenson Diaz who plans to retire Dec. 30. Redwood City, with 85,992 residents, is the third largest city in San Mateo County.
“Patrick is a seasoned local government executive who knows Redwood City well,” Mayor Elmer Martínez Saballos said in a press release Friday. “He has helped shape the important decisions and long-term planning efforts that keep Redwood City moving forward.”
Heisinger has served as the assistant city manager since 2024, overseeing the city’s Community Development, Engineering and Transportation, Housing and Homelessness, Economic Development, and Real Estate functions.
Before joining Redwood City, Heisinger served as interim city manager and assistant city manager for East Palo Alto.
