Santa Clara County students continue to outperform statewide averages in core subjects, according to the 2025 California School Dashboard released Thursday.
This year’s data shows 59.8% of Santa Clara County students met or exceeded English language arts standards, compared with 48.8% statewide, the Santa Clara County Office of Education announced.
In math, 53.2% of county students met or exceeded standards, far above the state’s 37.3%. Science scores followed the same trend, with 47.6% of county students meeting or exceeding standards, compared with 32.7% statewide.
Chronic absenteeism also improved across most local districts, according to the dashboard.
The county’s rate fell to 15.3%, below the statewide rate of 19.4%. Of the county’s 31 districts, 22 reported decreases, five stayed the same, and four saw small increases of about 1%. Suspension rates in the county remain lower than the state, 2.2% compared with 2.9%.
“This progress is remarkable. We should all be proud of the work that goes into ensuring every student is making progress in their academic goals,” said Santa Clara County Superintendent of Schools Dr. David M. Toston.
