University of California professional and technical employees including laboratory technicians and information technologists said they had reached a tentative four-year contract with the university.
The agreement calls for “significant pay increases” along with caps on healthcare premium increases and job security, the University Professional and Technical Employees announced on Saturday, without giving details.
The accord capped two years of a dispute including seven days on strike, according to the union, which represents 21,000 employees.
As a result of the agreement, “UPTE has rescinded our strike notice pending a membership ratification vote, which we plan to begin this week,” said Dan Russell, the union’s president and chief negotiator.
