The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors has approved more than $41 million in new funding to support the construction of nine affordable housing projects across the county, county officials announced last week.
The funding, part of the county’s Affordable Housing Fund 13.0, will help create 636 new affordable homes in Belmont, Daly City, Half Moon Bay, Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, South San Francisco, Moss Beach, and North Fair Oaks, according to a press release issued Thursday.
The developments will serve low-income families, seniors, farmworkers, people experiencing homelessness, individuals with disabilities, and first-time homeowners.
“This is a major step forward in our work to ensure that San Mateo County remains a place where all people — regardless of income — can live, work and thrive,” said Department of Housing Director Ray Hodges.
Most of the funding comes from Measure K, the voter-approved half-cent sales tax, along with state and local housing funds.
County officials said every $1 of Measure K funding leverages about $16.60 in additional housing resources.
