Hillsborough Police are looking for dash camera footage from motorists who may have been traveling in the area where an officer was shot and wounded this past weekend in what is being called an “ambush” attack.
The attack occurred Saturday about 3:49 p.m. at the police station, which is located with Town Hall at 1600 Floribunda Ave. A Hillsborough police officer was “ambushed” and shot by an unidentified gunman, police said. While the officer returned fire, it was not known whether he struck his assailant, police said.
The wounded officer was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.
A person of interest was interviewed in South San Francisco, police said Sunday. The department did not say if any arrests had been made.
Police asked anyone who may have been driving on El Camino Real between Oak Grove and Bellevue avenues between 3:30 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. the day of the shooting and who may have footage to contact Sgt. Jose Ortiz by email or at (650) 375-7561.
Officials thanked the community for its well wishes and support and its allied local, state and federal partners for their assistance.
