Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed the sheriffs of Santa Clara County and Alameda County to the State 911 Advisory Board.
The appointments, announced Friday, do not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation, according to the governor’s office.

Robert Jonsen, of San Jose, has been the sheriff of Santa Clara County since 2022. He was chief of police in Palo Alto from 2018 to 2022 and chief of police in Menlo Park from 2013 to 2018. He holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Woodbury University.
Yesenia Sanchez, of Livermore, has been the sheriff-coroner of Alameda County since 2023. She held multiple other positions at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office since 1997, when she joined as a technician. She became a deputy sheriff in 2001, sergeant in 2009, lieutenant in 2013 and division commander in 2013. She is a member of the National Sheriffs’ Association and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
