Fremont Police Department plans to hold first responder and active shooter training on Monday and Friday this week, they announced in a post last week.
Fremont Fire Department and Ohlone College Police Department are both participating in the training, which will be held at Ohlone College.
“Simulation shots may be heard during the training exercise,” the department said. “Please do not be alarmed by the large presence of law enforcement officers in the area.”
Both training days will have two large-scale active shooter/dangerous intruder scenario exercises, according to the department.
Morning training sessions will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and evening sessions will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The training sessions are not expected to cause disruptions for adjacent businesses and residents.
“This crucial training allows first responders to gain valuable knowledge and skills that will help keep our community safe,” the department said.
