Portions of state Highway 1 between Soquel and Aptos in Santa Cruz County will be fully closed for four nights starting Sunday, according to Caltrans.

From 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., all southbound lanes on Highway 1 from Park Avenue to State Park Drive will be closed to traffic as construction continues on a project to build auxiliary lanes and bus-on-shoulder improvements between the Bay Avenue/Porter Street and State Park Drive interchanges.

Travelers on southbound Highway 1 will be directed to take McGregor Drive from Park Avenue to State Park Drive, where they will able to take the on-ramp back onto the highway.

Local traffic can take Soquel Drive or McGregor Drive as detours to get to State Park Drive. Caltrans is warning travelers to expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

After construction crews remove the southbound closure by 6 a.m. Sept. 26, there will be no closure through the following weekend.
