Fremont City Council appointed longtime community leader Kathy Kimberlin as the new councilmember for District 3, according to city officials.
During a meeting on Tuesday, Kimberlin was officially sworn into office by the City Clerk. She will be replacing Jenny Kassan, who resigned.
City officials said she would serve as councilmember for approximately two years until the November 2026 General Municipal Election results are certified.
Kimberlin received the second-highest votes during the 2022 General Municipal Election. This factor led to the City Council’s decision earlier this month to interview her on Tuesday for the position.
“After the interview concluded, Council voted to appoint Ms. Kimberlin to the vacant District 3 Council seat,” city officials said.
Kimberlin has leadership roles with the Tri-City Nonprofit Coalition, Rotary Club of Fremont, Citizens for Better Community, Fremont 4th of July Parade Committee, and the Fremont Education Foundation.
