Bollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon will be completely closed between Camino Ramon and Market Place all next week so workers can build a “critical phase of construction” on the Iron Horse Regional Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing.
The road — a main artery through the city’s downtown area — will close at 5 a.m. Monday. City officials said they hope to have it reopen by the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 15.
Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the construction zone.
City Hall and the Marketplace Shopping Center will be open with access from westbound Bollinger Canyon Road.
The city said in a statement the closure was originally scheduled to begin Saturday, but the city worked with the contractor to reduce the full closure of Bollinger Canyon Road.
The city said the closing will allow the overcrossing structure within the roadway limits to be built. Once this work is complete, the overcrossing silhouette will be visible.
Bollinger Canyon Road will again close between Camino Ramon and Market Place from Oct. 1 through Oct. 7 so workers can set precast concrete deck panels into the overcrossing framework.
The overcrossing is scheduled to be fully complete and open by summer 2025.
