Oakland’s pandemic-era moratorium on rent increases on Rent Adjustment Program housing units will end this week, according to a press release from the city.

The emergency moratorium was adopted in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rent increases based on a banked CPI or petitions to the Rent Adjustment Program for things like capital improvements, uninsured repairs or increased housing services were banned under the moratorium.

Rent increases exceeding the annual consumer price index, or CPI, increase can resume on Monday, according to the press release.
