Electric vehicle owners in Vacaville now have more free public charging options. The city has unveiled three new solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations at two locations — one at Town Square and another at City Hall.
The Beam EV ARC stations, available to people without cost, are part of the city’s commitment to enhance clean vehicle infrastructure and promote sustainable transportation solutions, according to the city.
“By providing convenient and eco-friendly charging options, we are making it easier for our community to choose clean energy vehicles,” Vacaville Mayor John Carli said in a statement. “This is yet another commitment to provide innovative solutions to our residents and visitors while also making strides in our journey to reduce emissions and protect our environment.”

Each station installed is autonomous, compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and able to generate and store solar energy.
They don’t require any electrical work, construction or ongoing utility bills, the city said.
Multiple grants helped fund the project, including $104,536 in Clean Air Funds from the Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District and a $250,000 grant from the Solano Transportation Authority.
The city said a mobility trailer was also purchased that is able to relocate the units as needed.
