Napa County plans to launch the artificial intelligence language translation platform Wordly at a Board of Supervisors budget meeting on Monday to allow for real-time translation and closed captioning in Spanish on electronic devices.
Community members must bring their own devices and earphones to listen to or read the translation in person. They can listen and read the live transcript of the meeting in Spanish via Zoom (Meeting ID: 842-343-169).
“Napa County strives to be innovative in our communications to best serve the public and that includes embracing new technology,” said Joelle Gallagher, chair of the board of supervisors. “With the county’s diverse population that includes many non-native English speakers, it’s imperative that we meet the language needs of our community to foster equity, accessibility, and an inclusive community.”
Monday’s special meeting will discuss the 2024-25 fiscal year budget and will be held at 6 p.m. In addition to the regular board meeting on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The board meets every other Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the board chambers and meetings can be viewed in English on YouTube or Napa Valley TV Channel 28.
