A nearly mile-long water main replacement project in San Anselmo will cause a few months of traffic disruption starting in June, according to Marin Water.

The agency, which provides water to nearly 200,000 customers in central and southern Marin County, said the project will run along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard from San Francisco Boulevard to Butterfield Road.

Construction is scheduled to start after Archie Williams High School goes on summer break and will result in traffic being reduced to two lanes on Sir Francis Drake.

The project is expected to wrap up in November and will replace 4,500 feet of aging cast iron pipe with a welded steel alternative, which is better suited to surviving earthquakes, according to Marin Water officials.
