The City Council of Brisbane has agreed to make Jeremy Dennis the new city manager.

Dennis, most recently town manager of Portola Valley, succeeds Clay Holstine, who announced his retirement in May 2023 after 25 years and has been serving in an interim capacity.

The council unanimously adopted a resolution appointing Dennis to the post Thursday last week. He is expected to start work June 24, the city announced in a press release Friday.

Dennis has held staff positions with San Mateo County and Palo Alto. He was the district director and chief of staff for Assemblyman Rich Gordon, D-Menlo Park, and district director for Assemblyman Lou Papan, D-Millbrae.

He holds undergraduate degrees in political science and history from the University of California, Davis and a master’s degree in regional and urban planning from The London School of Economics.
