It is one of the most cherished moments of a wedding ceremony: a hush falls over the guests as the bride makes her appearance and heads down the aisle in linen and lace. All eyes are on the gown — a show-stopping attraction that will be preserved for posterity in photo albums, shared in social media posts, and in some cases passed down to future generations.

But it will be quite a different set of wedding memories for one Redwood City couple, after a porch pirate last week stole packages that included a $2,000 wedding dress from a resident’s front porch.

The theft took place on April 11 during a short 22-minute window, between 8:24 and 8:46 p.m., at a home in the 800 block of Adams Street, according to Redwood City police.

The thief took multiple packages, including one with the wedding dress, police said.

“Thief steals wedding dress and ruins wedding plans! Can you ID?” police said in a news release on Monday.

Police released a surveillance image of the suspect and asked that anyone with information on the theft contact the Redwood City Police Department at 650-780-7100 and reference case number R24-04-0187. Tips can be anonymous.
