The lanes of 19th/Crossover Avenue in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park have reopened after a large eucalyptus tree fell on five vehicles there Monday afternoon, San Francisco Department of Emergency Management announced at 9:40 p.m.
The fire department was dispatched to the scene at 3:54 p.m. after a tree fell at Crossover and Martin Luther King, Jr. drives.
At 4:40 p.m., the fire department said that 11 people, some of which were children, were safe, and two had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Most all lanes of 19th Avenue were closed at the site for several hours, except for one northbound lane, which backed up traffic in the area considerably. The city said drivers should expect residual delays.
