Napa County’s Monarch Justice Center has opened the North Bay Trauma Recovery Center to provide critical services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and elder abuse, Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced this week.

The addition of the Trauma Recovery Center or TRC to the Monarch Justice Center unlocks trauma-informed mental health services for victims of crime, many of whom struggle with the trauma brought upon them from crimes, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

“The grand opening of the Trauma Recovery Center at Monarch is a welcome addition to both the center, and the people of Napa, as it will empower our team to address mental health issues linked to trauma through specialized services,” Kim Phinney, president of Monarch Justice Center’s Board of Directors, said in a statement Thursday.

Through the TRC, the Monarch Justice Center will be able to provide trauma-informed mental health therapy and case management services for Napa County residents affected by violence.

Funding for the North Bay TRC was made possible through a $2.5 million grant awarded to Napa/Solano SANE-SART, the group that will administer the TRC services, from the California Victim Compensation Board.

The board funds 22 TRCs throughout the state to provide trauma-informed mental health treatment and case management to underserved victims of crime who might not be eligible for victim compensation, or who may be fearful of reporting a crime to law enforcement.
