Oakland public school student interns have started fixing or replacing school-issued Chromebooks in need of repair at three high school hubs this week, the Oakland Unified School District said.

The first 25,000 Chromebooks were ordered by the OaklandUndivided Campaign in 2020 to help close the digital divide.

Students in the OUSD Tech Repair Internship will accept the Chromebooks at Fremont, McClymonds and Oakland high schools, the district said Sept. 29. The process takes about a week.

Fremont High, at 4610 Foothill Blvd., will accept Chromebooks Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Oakland High, at 1023 MacArthur Blvd., will accept the computers Monday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

McClymonds High, at 2607 Myrtle St., will take Chromebooks on Monday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday, from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Computer collections will be offered at other schools beginning in October.
