Sonoma County has formally declared an end to the local COVID-19 emergency, more than three years and two months after its passage marked the arrival of the global pandemic that upended the world, killing at least 561 Sonoma County residents and more than 1.1 million Americans.
The county passed a pair of emergency proclamations March 4, 2020, one of which declared a public health emergency, and another declaring a general emergency in the county. The emergency public health order was lifted on Feb. 28, the same day the state’s emergency health order expired.
