Nature’s relentless onslaught this past month has saturated acres of property and left many homes and businesses partially submerged in a potentially toxic stew of contaminated floodwater, according to local health officials. While the images of the physical devastation have been all over the media, the bigger concern for flood victims may be what they don’t see.

San Mateo County Health Officer Dr. Scott Morrow recently warned the public of the health and safety risks for those returning to flooded areas.
