A special election for the state’s 17th Assembly District seat has been set for next year, after former Assemblymember David Chiu took over as San Francisco city attorney this month.
The primary for the special election will take place Feb. 15 and the top candidates will face off on April 9, according to an announcement from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.
